One theory doing the rounds is that Russia introduced MP into the Uk(and other countries I assume) . Far fetched?

What do you think?
China allegedly for some idiots infected all of us on purpose but look what's happening over there now.
You can't infect other countries without it ending up infecting you back.

There are some documents going around that monkeypox was used in a test pandemic simulation.

It seems 1. coincidental that now monkeypox as appeared, and 2. its not following the same pattern as it normally would.

Sounds delightful.
'According to the NHS, you can catch monkeypox if you are bitten by an infected animal or if you touch its blood, body fluids, spots, blisters or scabs.
Catching it from an infected person is very uncommon, but transmission is possible through touching clothing, bedding, towels or other items used by someone with the rash.
Contact with their blisters or scabs or exposure to their coughs or sneezes could also put you at risk.
Health experts have said the infection can also be caught by eating meat from an infected animal that has not been cooked properly.
It is also possible to catch monkeypox by touching other products such as skin or fur which came from an infected animal.'

Gotta wonder why it’s suddenly popped up in several countries, it’s been around for years in Africa but doesn’t tend to spread much because of the above. Hopefully this is just some anomaly/unlucky sequence of events and the transmission chains will be short/end but still even if it has somehow become more transmissible it does sound (at least at the moment) like it should be much easier to contact trace.

Like presumably it’s going to be family, close friends/flatmates, intimate partners even if one off hookups that are surely most at risk and easy to contact. Unlike say people sat at the adjacent table at a restaurant, nearby in a bar or next to you on a bus etc..

Gay saunas/clubs obvs an issue (or indeed any hetero places where people are hyper promiscuous with multiple strangers) the small pox vaccine targeted there sounds like a good idea.

For a virus that typically isn’t hugely transmissible, it is indeed bizarre that it’s popped up in so many different countries. Let’s hope it hasn’t mutated beyond the strain we think it is. My parents generation were among the last with immunity, so it seems we don’t have herd immunity.

Computer models.
